Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac – The Candidate Soldier Course Class 794 – 2024, started their military journey through the Opening Ceremony and traditional military Reception Rites. The event was graced by Colonel Harold M Cabunoc, Acting Commander, Initial Military Training Center, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army as the Keynote Speaker held at Makabulos Grandstand, TRADOC, Philippine Army on 18 July 2023.

The new recruits will undergo rigorous and regimented Basic Military Training at the School for Candidate Soldier (SCS) of the Initial Military Training Center. This training will hone these recruits with the basic foundations of soldiery while instilling in them the Army’s core values of Honor, Duty and Patriotism as defenders of the nation.

These Candidate Soldiers were the 3rd group of the implementation of the One Training Factory, which envisions a centralized training venue for all candidate soldiers nationwide.

Col Cabunoc inspired the CSC Cl 794-2024 by sharing the story of Captain Jacuba, who selflessly committed his life to carry out his responsibility of defending the nation even if it may endanger his own life. He emphasized that being a soldier would require having a positive mental attitude, and a combination of dedication, courage, discipline, and selflessness for them not to quit in their training. Soldiers should commit themselves to protecting their country and its citizens, often putting their lives on the line in service of a greater cause.

TRADOC remains committed to its mission as the foundation of Army Standards, shaping versatile soldiers who embody a world-class, multi-mission ready, and cross-domain capable defenders of our country.
