Major General Luis Rex D Bergante PA, Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Philippine Army, visited the Visayas Army Training Group (VATG) stationed at Camp Chatto, Tubigon, Bohol on 29 May 2024.

          During his visit, MGen Bergante pointed out three (3) important topics to the staff and students of VATG. He encouraged the students to train as hard as they could and always strive for excellence. He further stated that as the Commander of TRADOC, he will treat individual soldiers’ training as a priority for the reason that training is the foundation of soldiery. Lastly, he also discussed the four Ds that are necessary for excellence: Desire as the first step for everything begins with the desire to succeed and attain perfection in training. Next is Determination since success would require a strong sense of determination. The next quality a soldier needs is Discipline, which allows them to always act morally even in the absence of leadership. The final concept is Divine Providence, which holds that no matter what religion we practice, there is always Someone we can trust to assist us fulfill our goals.

          Furthermore, MGen Bergante has also discussed the change in the Army’s objective to territorial defense in which the Army's sustainment issue must come along. He also informed the students that the Army will provide meal subsidies to students enrolled in career courses to encourage every soldier to undergo training.
