Camp O’Donnell, Capas Tarlac – The Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army, holds the Recognition Rites of Officer Candidate Course (OCC) Class 59-2023 “TALAHIRAYA” at Makabulos Grandstand, Camp O’Donnel, Capas, Tarlac on 25 March 2023 with Brigadier General Ramon P Zagala, Commander, Presidential Security Group, Philippine Army, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

          The OCC Class 59 (TALAHIRAYA) is the strongest class undergoing training in the history of Officer Candidate School having 331 students, 276 were males and 55 females. These aspiring officers of the Army underwent the rigorous training as dumbguards, whose motivation to surpass the most difficult part of the training is their dedication to serve the country that will give pride and honor to their families. The Class name “TALAHIRAYA” stands for “Tagapagtanggol ng Lahi na mga Hinirang at Responsableng Aagapay para sa Bayan” a combination of two words, “TALA” which means stars or light that guides through darkness of the night and “HIRAYA” which means the fruit of hopes and dreams.

        “Leadership requires sacrifices from yourself. It is not being in-charge but being able to inspire and work with others to achieve a goal. Hence, my leadership was inspired by the leadership principle of Ronald Raegan “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” Brigadier General Zagala emphasized in his message.
